Apartment fire displaces forty in Ellington

ELLINGTON-Firefighters battled a second alarm fire at an apartment complex that displaced forty of its residents.

Firefighters responded to Stone Bridge Apartments on Pinney Street around 9:30 yesterday evening. Mutual aid was requested from Vernon, Crystal Lake and East Windsor fire departments.

Sixteen of the apartment units are uninhabitable. The Red Cross is assisting the 40 people that were displaced.

The Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
