NEW ORLEANS —A Transportation Security Administration agent was attacked by a person with a machete at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans on Friday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said.

A law enforcement officer shot the suspect three times. He was taken to a hospital where authorities said he was unresponsive. The TSA agent suffered a cut to the arm, Normand said.

Fox CT’s sister station in the area, WGNO, is reporting that at least on person was shot and at least three were injured.

The shooting was at a security checkpoint in a terminal of the New Orleans international airport. Airport spokeswoman Michelle Wilcut says the shooting happened at a security checkpoint at Concourse B. She says the site has been secured.
