Derby fire destroys home, leaves dog dead

DERBY–A home fire in Derby left one pet dead and severe damage to the house.

The call for the fire at 24 Summit St. came in just before 6 p.m. The second floor sustained heavy damage.

A dog died in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
