Hartford police identify third homicide victim in a week

HARTFORD– Police identified the victim of a fatal shooting that happened Monday night.

According to Deputy Chief Brian Foley, Julius Rivera, 20, was shot at 17 Benton St. around 6:30 p.m. He later died at the hospital.

Police say they found the man alert and conscious in the multifamily home and were able to get some information about a suspect.

This is the city’s sixth homicide of 2015 and the third in a week.

The report below was filed shortly after the shooting, before the victim was identified.
