FALL RIVER, Mass. — The judge overseeing the murder trial of Aaron Hernandez says prosecutors are “about a week or so” away from resting their case against the former New England Patriots player.

The trial has already gone on for eight weeks.

Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh also said Wednesday that she’ll allow some jailhouse conversations to be used in his case.

Hernandez is accused in the June 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee.

His lawyers asked to exclude jailhouse phone calls he and others connected to the case have made, including conversations with his fiancee, Miami Dolphins player Mike Pouncey and others.

Garsh didn’t immediately say which calls could be used.

Prosecutors say don’t plan to use the calls with Pouncey.
