Three residents, two firefighters injured in apartment fire

NEW LONDON- Five people were injured in a fire at the Nutmeg Woods apartment complex on Hawthorne Drive.

Firefighters say the first alarm fire started just before 10 p.m on the second floor of the apartment complex.

Three  residents and one firefighter had smoke inhalation and another firefighter had a foot injury. They were all transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

There are 12 units tied together and residents living in those units were not able to go in until firefighters cleared the units.

The fire was knocked down in an hour.
