SAN DIEGO, Calif. – A California Highway Patrol officer rescued a woman who appeared to be passed out in the driver’s seat while on a busy San Diego area freeway, according to KTLA.

The woman was stopped in the middle of the highway with cars speeding by when a passerby ran to the vehicle and tried to awaken her, CNN affiliate KGTV reported.

The passerby, who had a camera, got the whole thing on video.

He knocked on the window and yelled for the woman to wake up, but she didn’t budge.

California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Flores arrived at the scene shortly after that and attempted to get her attention by tapping on the window with his flashlight, according to KGTV.

That’s when the woman’s foot came off the brake and the black Chrysler Sebring started rolling on the freeway.

Flores then ran around to the passenger side of the car and smashed the window with his flashlight.

“Stop your car, you’re going to crash,” he yelled at the woman, who appeared dazed and confused.

Finally, Flores was able to throw open the door and put the car into park.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Amber Dlaine McKinney Morgan, was then moved to a safe location off the roadway before being arrested on suspicion of DUI, KGTV reported.

In the video, a bottle of vodka can be seen in the floorboard of the vehicle.
