ANSONIA – Police and Animal Control in Ansonia are asking people to be on alert after a local dog was injured by two coyotes last week.

Police say the incident happened Wednesday, March 25. A resident of Park Place reported that her dog was chased and injured by the coyotes. No word on the extent of the dogs injuries.

Officials recommend that people make sure their pets are up to date on their vaccinations. Care should also be taken when letting the animals out of the house, said police. They recommend people keep animals leashed and go outside with them.

If you see a wild animal, you should not approach it.

Police ask that you report any contact with wild animals or any observed strange behavior by wild animals to 203-735-1885.
