Second arrest made in New Haven teen fight

NEW HAVEN – A second arrest has been made in a fight that occurred on March 15 and has now become the center of a large controversy.

On Monday Sabrina Parker, 18, of New Haven, was arrested for her role in a fight at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Church Street during the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Parker was charged with risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault, and second-degree breach of peace for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old female inside the restaurant.

Police say Parker was picked up at the state courthouse on Elm Street, where she had appeared in an unrelated felony weapon case.

The 15-year-old’s arrested has spurred multiple protests in New Haven, as the arrest was caught on camera and some say officers used unnecessary force.  The officer, Josh  Smereczynsky, was cleared of any wrongdoing after an internal affairs investigation.

Parker told detectives she was pepper-sprayed by the twin of the girl Parker allegedly assaulted inside the restaurant. At least two employees at the restaurant reported being pepper-sprayed by her as well.

Police say the investigation is still open and more arrests are likely.
