Truck fire causes issues at I-95 entrance in Greenwich, hundreds without power

GREENWICH — Police in Greenwich are warning drivers to stay away from Route 1 on the Stamford line.

There was a truck fire on East Putnam Avenue between the on-ramp to Interstate 95 (exit 5) and the Stamford town line.

No injuries were reported in the car fire.

According to Greenwich police, power lines were involved in the fire. The traffic lights at the intersection of East Putnam and Sound Beach Avenues were not working. Eversource Energy’s outage map was reporting 501 Greenwich customers without power at 8:25 a.m.
