FALL RIVER, Mass. — He could say he saw Aaron Hernandez with guns, but he wasn't allowed to make the claim on the stand that Hernandez shot him in the face.

Hartford native Alexander Bradley, 32, took the stand as one of the last prosecution witnesses in the murder trial.

He said Wednesday, outside the presence of the jury, that Hernandez was paranoid and often said helicopters and police were following him, but the judge ruled that Bradley could not testify about that.

Bradley claims he was close friends with Hernandez until the former New England Patriots star tight-end, Bradley alleges, shot him in the eye after an argument at a South Florida strip club in February 2013.

Bradley is now suing Hernandez.

Bradley was allowed on the stand to talk about other things that happened on that Florida trip. He claimed that in a West Palm Beach hotel room another friend of Hernandez handed Hernandez a handgun.

"It was black," Bradley said. "It appeared to be a glock."

Bradley testified that he never saw the gun again; however, he said he saw another handgun in a lock box at Hernandez's North Attleboro home. Bradley claimed that gun was about 9 inches in length, and it was "dissimilar" to the .22 caliber pistol found near the scene of Odin Lloyd's body.

The defense, meanwhile, brought up Bradley's extensive criminal past to try to weaken his credibility as a witness.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in Lloyd's killing. Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee.
