Armed robbery at Groton convenience store

GROTON —  The Groton Town Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Henny Penny Convenience Store at 8:18 p.m. Thursday.

A white male had entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money.   The robber then fled on foot Northbound on Route 12.

Police describe the suspect as a  white male is described as being in his early 20s  5’5” to 5’8” tall and heavy set,  with facial hair, with a distinguishing gap between his teeth,  and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt like jacket, grey pants, and black shoes.  He was wearing sunglasses and appeared to have black marks under his eyes.  He was also wearing a pair of distinct yellow work gloves with black edging.

The Groton Town Police were assisted by Stonington and East Lyme Police Department K-9 teams, as well as a Connecticut State Police K-9 team.   The Connecticut State Police and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service also assisted.
