Bristol Eastern High band director wins prestigious award

HARTFORD - Amy Dauphinais is the current band director at Bristol Eastern High School where she teaches Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Music Theory, Music History and Piano. Amy completed the degree of Masters of Music in Instrumental Conducting at UConn.  She had the experience of conducting the United States Coast Guard Band at the US Coast Guard Academy in New London. Amy is the Connecticut State Representative for Women’s Band Directors International, the All-State Band Chair for Connecticut Music Educators Association, The National Association of Music Education, College Band Directors' National Association, and the American Bandmasters Association.

She recently won a competition to be one of only two conductors in the world to be a part of the annual "Cortona Sessions for New Music" in Italy this summer. She stopped by the Fox CT Morning Extra Thursday to talk about her experience.
