GROTON — Just days after police seemed to have captured a suspected serial robber, a bank robbed last week was hit again Wednesday.

Police said a man walked into the People’s United Bank branch inside the Stop & Shop on Route 12 at around 3:20 p.m.

He robbed the bank of cash while unsuspecting shoppers were standing just feet away.

The man was caught on surveillance camera.

The robber is described as a white male in his late 20s to early 30s. He stands between 5’8″ and 5’10”. Police said he has a medium to stocky build. He also had a beard at the time of the robbery.

Police said the robbery may have driven away in a grey 2003 to 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a chrome front grill.

Anyone with information is asked to call police right away.

The same bank was robbed six days earlier on April 8. The suspect in that robbery, Timothy Foye, was arrested days later and is facing charges in a string of robberies in Southeastern Connecticut.
