HARTFORD — The first defendant in a 2013 kidnapping and robbery of a Fairfield jewelry store will serve more than 14 ½ years in prison.

Twenty-seven-year-old William Davis of Allentown, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in December. On Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Chatigny sentenced Davis to 176 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

He was also ordered to pay more than $3 million in restitution.

Authorities say armed robbers broke into a Meriden apartment and bound and blindfolded four people. Two of the victims were later driven to a Fairfield jewelry store, where they worked. Prosecutors said the robbers made away with $4 million in jewelry and watches.

Two other defendants in the case have pleaded guilty but have not been sentenced and two more are awaiting trial.
