NEW HAVEN – Police and emergency personnel responded to a motorcycle crash on the Route 34 off-ramp at Church St. on Friday, April 24 at 10:15 p.m.
The victim, a 59 year-old Branford man, was the sole, involved operator. Due to his severe head trauma, investigators believe he was not wearing a protective helmet. They believe that was he was exiting the highway, he lost control, was ejected and then struck the pavement.
The victim was rushed to Yale – New Haven hospital where he remains in critical and unstable condition. His identity is being withheld pending notification to his family.
The NHPD Crash Investigation Team is investigating the crash. While the cause is not yet known, investigators are focusing on excessive speed as a contributing factor.
