THE MURDER OF STEVEN RILEY
DATE:   AUGUST 14TH, 2013
TIME:   MURDERED AT APPROXIMATELY 0400 HOURS. FOUND DEAD AT 17O1 HOURS INSIDE OF HIS RUNNING VEHICLE.
LOCATION:  21 HARRISON PLACE, HARTFORD
CAUSE OF DEATH: MULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS TO THE FACE, HEAD AND CHEST.
MANNER OF DEATH: HOMICIDE
VICTIM:   STEVEN RILEY 3-23-1987 26 when murdered.

August 14th, 2013 and at 17-01 hours Hartford Police are dispatched to the Exxon Gas station at the intersection of Woodland and Homestead Avenue on the report of a possible deceased male inside a silver Acura. Upon arrival to the location police are met by a female pedestrian who directs them to the address of 21 Harrison Place. At that location, police locate a silver Acura  running with a black male inside of the vehicle. Police look inside of the vehicle and see that the black male is dead. They observe a visible gunshot wound to the neck. The male is identified via fingerprints as Steven Riley, of 9 Evergreen Avenue, Hartford. Steven Riley also sustains gunshot wounds to the face, head and upper torso. At the scene police learned that the vehicle has been running on Harrison Place since 0400 hours and no one checked the vehicle until over 12 hours later when police were called to investigate. EMS arrived and stayed at the scene until the arrival of the medical examiner at approximately 1900 hours.

In the beginning of the investigation Hartford Police were set back in the investigation because of the time-lapse from the probable murder, around 0400 hours, until the discovery of Steven dead in the car. No witnesses, no assistance from the public, no one who heard gunshots on Harrison Place.

In the investigation police have identified persons of interest but need more information and cooperation from the public to assist them in solving this case. Information has been received that indicated that some of Steven Riley’s “friends” began to act strangely after his murder. They stopped coming around his neighborhood, didn’t attend services and have changed their demeanor towards Steven’s family.

The case will be 2 years old in August. It’s time to solve this case.
