WEST HARTFORD - The University of Saint Joseph welcomed more than 120 middle school girls to campus Monday.

The girls spent the afternoon in workshops designed to promote an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The goal of the STEM expo is to inspire girls at a young age to potentially pursue a career in the field of sciences.

"Now women can do anything so we want the girls to learn and understand science and engineering and any kind of technology," said Buff Bachenheimer of Mercy High School.

The University of St. Joseph has been putting on the expo for more than six years with the help from CT Women's Education and Legal Fund.
