HARTFORD -- Sometimes it takes a woman's touch to make a house a home, and on Enfield Street in the city's North End, the touch was a bit heavy-handed, but that's what was needed.
Amid the clanging of hammers and whirring of electric saws, two dozen women volunteered their time to Hartford Habitat for Humanity's "Women Build" event.
"At the end of the day we are starting a path for these families," said Karraine Moody, the executive director of Hartford's Habitat for Humanity. "The end goal is this stabilizes the neighborhood," Moody added.
Overseeing the action on the lot, Habitat's Senoir Contruction Supervisor Bob Cassello said, "This is all women, the whole week is all women, it's the 'Women Build' and it's fabulous."
Habitat for Humanity says the three homes, all two stories and about 1,500 square feet, should be ready to move into by August.
