SALEM, Mass. — In his first public comments since the NFL released a report on the “Deflategate” scandal, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady told sports reporter Jim Gray on Thursday night that he doesn’t yet “have really any reaction.”
“Our owner commented on it yesterday. It’s only been 30 hours so I haven’t had much time to digest it fully but when I do I’ll be sure to let you know how I feel about it,” he said during a guest speaker appearance before a friendly audience at Salem State University in Massachusetts.
He added he hopes he will be able to address it soon.
“There’s still a process that’s going forth right now, and I’m involved in that process, whenever it happens it happens, and I’ll certainly want to be very comfortable in how I feel about the statements that I make,” he said.
Brady said the controversy has “absolutely not” detracted from the joy of winning the Super Bowl, and said he’s thankful for his teammates and family.
“We’ll get through this,” he said.
