BOSTON — The former brother-in-law of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev says Tsarnaev had a close relationship with his brother, the man his lawyers say masterminded the attack.

Elmirza Khozhugov testified Wednesday by live video from Kazakhstan, saying Tsarnaev loved his brother and listened to him.

The defense is trying to show that Tsarnaev was heavily influenced by his radicalized older sibling.

Defense lawyers could rest their case as early as Thursday. They won’t say if Tsarnaev will take the stand.

A federal jury will decide whether Tsarnaev should be executed or sentenced to life in prison for the 2013 bombings that killed three people and wounded more than 260.

Tsarnaev’s family lived in Russia and in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan  before moving to the U.S. when he was 8.
