WEST HAVEN -- Some West Haven school kids were shaken up Thursday after an alleged fleeing felon slammed into their bus at around 11:40 a.m.

Police said the DEA was looking for the suspect, who was wanted on a felony warrant. He apparently saw the federal agents and then sped off in his car. He soon crashed into the school bus and a parked car near the intersection of Main and Martin Street.

West Haven DEA suspect v. bus crashPolice said the bus had 13 kids on board, but only a handful suffered minor injuries.

"Little bit of chaos to begin with, we had two separate areas that we had to respond to," Deputy Fire Chief Scott Schwartz said. "One to the suspect that was reported bleeding where the police had taken him into custody, and rolling up on this, we had to extricate one person out of the vehicle."

Schwartz said only one of the kids was taken to the hospital, but that was just to get checked out.
