EAST HARTFORD — A police detective has testified that authorities found no evidence in the home or car of a man charged in the bludgeoning deaths of three people in East Hartford in 2010.

East Hartford Detective Christina Johnson was the final defense witness to testify in the trial of 50-year-old Brett Bednarz, who’s charged with murder in the deaths of his mother, 74-year-old Beverly Therrien, and two house guests.

Closing arguments and deliberations are scheduled for Monday in Hartford Superior Court.

The Hartford Courant reports Johnson testified Friday that no evidence linking Bednarz to the killings was found in his Manchester apartment or his car. But a state DNA expert testified Thursday that DNA found on crumpled bathroom tissue at the crime scene most likely came from Bednarz, the Journal Inquirer reported.
