WEST HARTFORD – While a state police officer was conducting a traffic stop on the side of the road on I-84, his police cruiser was hit by another vehicle late Saturday night.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, a state police officer pulled over a Honda Civic on I-84 West near exit 43 in West Hartford, police said.

While the officer’s vehicle and the Civic were parked on the shoulder, a third vehicle—a Dodge Caliber– sideswiped both of the vehicles that were pulled over.

The 32-year-old driver of the Caliber also had one 24-year-old passenger in the vehicle.

The drivers of the Caliber and Civic were transported to Hartford Hospital with minor injures.

The state trooper was uninjured, police said. The patrol car sustained minor damage.
