FAIRFIELD – The New Haven Line of the Metro-North Railroad is currently delayed due to police activity near the Fairfield Station.

A pedestrian was struck by a Metro-North train, just east of the Fairfield Station, and transported by ambulance to the hospital.

According to Lieutenant James Perez of the Fairfield Police Department, just before 4 p.m. a Metro-North conductor of ta train travelling Northbound had just left the Fairfield Metro station when he reported seeing a person standing on the side of the tracks east of Black Rock Turnpike.

This person then jumped in front of the train, laid down in front of the train, and was struck.

Passengers should expect delays.
