HARTFORD -- Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Tuesday night.

Police responded to the area of 618 Maple Ave. for a reported shooting. Police said the victim of the shooting is a 23-year-old male that had multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

This is the city's fourth homicide in two weeks and eleventh homicide of the year. The Major Crime Division is investigating.

One shooting on Sunday morning left a community pastor injured, and now the community is hoping for action.

Residents held a peace rally Tuesday evening, just a few hours before the deadly shooting, to speak out against the violence.

Police say the shooting of Pastor Augustus Sealy could possibly be a hate crime. Pastor Sealy told them that hateful statements referencing lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people were made to him before he was shot three times. Sealy leads the First Church of the Nazarene, which police described as accepting of the LGBT community.
