Police arrest suspect in 5th Hartford homicide in 2 weeks

HARTFORD- Police have identified the suspect arrested in a fatal stabbing that happened Wednesday evening in Hartford.

Paul Hunter, 36, of Broad Brook, was arrested, according to Deputy Chief Brian Foley.

Hunter will be arraigned Thursday in Hartford Superior court.

The incident occurred Wednesday night at 139 Barbour St., inside the Blue package store.

According to the initial investigation, two men got into a fight and one of them pulled out a knife, stabbing the other. The suspect ran, but officers were able to chase him down on foot and arrest him while he held onto the knife.

This is the city’s fifth homicide in just 11 days, and second in just 24 hours. Earlier on Tuesday another person was shot in the back, but he is expected to survive.

So far in 2015 there have been 12 homicides in the capital city.
