MONTVILLE -- It's the summer of the dino with "Jurassic World" heating-up the big screen.
But do you need a cool down? Just head to The Dinosaur Place at Nature's Art Village and meet the brand-new Vortex Superwave! The large water fly wheel fills-up with water before it spins, creating a tidal wave of chills and laughter!
It's the newest addition to New England's largest splash pad, where kids test the waters before roaming the grounds at the dinosaur destination.
"Construction started on this property in 1992 and it's never stopped," explains owner Roger Phillips, noting the unique, shaded paths lined with statues of prehistoric figures.
A new spitting, growling animatronic dinosaur is delighting, and surprising, families, while a volcano periodically rumbles and smokes. Folks can also navigate obstacles on Monty's Playground and sharpen their minds in the amazing maze with twists, turns and tunnels.
Inside, pan for gold and unearth fossils at the Discovery Depot. The Gateway Museum at Nature's Art Village is also home to a steam-powered printing press.
"We’re doing this out of the desire to make an eclectic educational destination," says Phillips.
"I like learning about them and the history. I like to find out about their bones and different parts they had," says 8-year-old Isabella Abrams of Groton, Massachusetts. And, right here in Connecticut, the park is open!
