HARTFORD — A new information sharing system for Connecticut law enforcement agencies has been delayed two years, while the estimated cost has ballooned nearly 40 percent to more than $52 million.

The delay and cost increase are among a series of problems that have hampered development of the Connecticut Information Sharing System.

State officials approved the project in 2008 in response to a triple-murder home invasion in Cheshire in 2007. The two killers were granted parole earlier in 2007, and parole board members later said they didn’t have as much information as they should have.

The system was supposed to be ready last November, but now is slated to be fully online in August 2017. Despite the delay and higher cost, state officials say the project is now back on track.
