WATERTOWN — A 20-year-old New Haven man has died after drowning in Slades Pond at Sylvan Lake Park Sunday evening.

Police say it happened around 7 p.m. Police and Fire officials were called to the pond for a man in distress.

Witnesses say Jabree Bryant jumped off the large rock on the north side of the pond and never came back to the surface. Despite several rescue attempts police could not locate the male.

Eventually, the Region Five Dive Team entered the water. They found him unresponsive and not breathing. They performed CPR  and took him to Waterbury Hospital.

Bryant was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
