FAIRFIELD - Police called a woman a predator after arresting her on charges she stole thousands from an elderly victim, who she who she cared for in the victim's home and is suspected in a series of similar thefts.
Kris Marsan, of 33 Campfield Drive, Fairfield, was arrested on Monday on larceny charges after police said she stole over $5,000 while working as a home health aide. The incident happened between September 10 and 15, 2014 of last year. Her court date is June 30.
Police said Marsan was hired to take care of a woman, and the woman's daughter discovered several pieces of jewelry taken from the home.
Marsan, who is unregistered with the state, is also suspected by police in a series of similar incidents.
Fairfield Police Lt. James Perez said, "This arrested predator poses a real threat to elderly citizens everywhere and the public should be aware."
Marsan is suspected in several other thefts according to police. She was arrested for another Fairfield case on April 10, and charged with larceny. In that case, Ron Beliveau, the victim's son, contacted police to report the theft of cash and jewelry from the home after he recorded Marsan stealing cash and jewelry totaling $6,500 from the bedroom dresser.
"The cash was approximately $200. She took heirloom jewelry items that exceeded $5, 000 in value. What angered me most is these were heirloom family items that were to be handed down to my daughter and niece - her grandchildren. They were not recovered," said Beliveau, who lives in the Albany, New York area.
Monroe police also suspect Marsan of stealing from a home where she was house sitting.
In Norwalk, police suspect Marsan of stealing $60,000 of jewelry from a home. The daughter of the victim in that case had previously referred Marsan to another family in Westport according to police and they believe she stole a checkbook at that home and wrote over $30,000 in fraudulent checks.
The Norwalk and Westport cases remains under investigation.
Perez said, "She had previously worked for a company called Always Best Care (ABC) in Monroe, and was employed when the incident in Monroe took place. During the Fairfield incidents and the Norwalk and Westport incidents she was not employed by a company and was not licensed to practice."
