WATERTOWN--Moving is never easy, but a woman living in Watertown says packing is a bit more complicated for her.
Priscilla Gagnon’s has lived in her Whispering Hill Road home for nearly 13 years, but now she’s packing up all alone, even though her family is quite large.
Gagnon shares the home with 24 cats. She tells Fox CT that the cats show up at her door, she takes them to the vet and gives them a permanent place in her house. “How do you say no to a little thing that’s sitting outside of your door screaming for some food? I couldn’t do it,” says Gagnon.
However, when Gagnon moves, only a handful of the older cats will be traveling to New Hampshire with her because she doesn’t have much space. “You don’t know what’s going to happen to them. You hope they find a loving place and loving people. All I can say is, it tears your heart out,” says Gagnon.
For weeks, Gagnon says she’s called multiple agencies to find homes for her furry family, but they’ve told her there’s nothing they can do. The self-proclaimed cat loves says she refuses to abandon her family. “Sometimes, they give you more than people do,” says Gagnon.
That’s why she feels obligated to return the favor. She’s even printing out flyers and handing them out around town with descriptors, hoping someone will look after her helpless and soon to be homeless cats when she moves next week. “People have told me, they can fend for themselves. No, they can’t. They can’t,” says Gagnon.
