NORTH HAVEN–A series of strong storms rolled through the state Tuesday, causing widespread damage.

Major roads across the state shut down, and some of the closures remain Wednesday morning.

The First Selectman of Durham is asking morning commuters to stay out of town completely because the storm damage is still so severe.

Various roads remain closed across the state:

Route 188 is closed in Oxford between Hogsback Road and Plasterhouse Road.

Route 42 in Cheshire is closed at Mountain Crest Road.

Route 66 is closed by the Rock Ledges in Portland due to trees down on wires.

Route 32 is closed in Windham from the Franklin town line to Route 207 due to trees falling on wires.

The  same situation has closed Route 202 from Route 32 to Route 87 in Lebanon.

Route 58 is closed in Redding.
