As if! ‘Clueless’ the musical is coming

NEW YORK — One of your favorites ’90s films will be “rolling with the homies” on Broadway.

Twenty years after “Clueless” hit movie theaters, director Amy Heckerling has confirmed to “Entertainment Tonight” that “Clueless: The Musical” is coming to the stage.

“I’ve written the, what they call the book, and it’s a jukebox musical,” Heckerling said.

A “jukebox musical” uses previously released and popular songs as opposed to songs specifically composed for the production.

The 1995 film starring Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash and the late Brittany Murphy is now a cult classic and had a spinoff television show.

In the retelling of Jane Austen’s “Emma,” Silverstone starred as Cher Horowitz, a popular Beverly Hills teen; Dash as her best friend, Dionne; and Murphy as the ugly duckling Tai. Rudd played Cher’s idealist ex-stepbrother and love interest, Josh.

Heckerling, who also wrote the film, said that finding actors who can live up to the original crew might be challenging.

“Casting — that’s like going to be like the main problem,” she told “ET.”
