HAMPTON, Va.–After two days of searching and digging, law enforcement agents came up short in the New Britain serial killer investigation.

Officials from New Britain, the FBI and local officers in Virginia worked together to score the property that suspect William Devon Howell previously lived in.

Howell was arrested at the home in 2005 for the murder of Nilsa Arizmendi, one of the seven victims whose remains were found buried in the woods behind a New Britain strip mall.

Neighbors in Virginia told investigators that they remember seeing Howell digging holes in his backyard, but cadaver dogs and other technologies didn’t find anything suspicious.
