ORANGE- State police are investigating a road rage shooting on an I-95 off-ramp on the Orange/Milford line.

The shooting happened at exit 41 on I-95 north around 9:00 p.m. Thursday night.

State Police said a passenger car and a tractor-trailer were involved in a road rage incident on the highway.  Police said the car exited the highway at Exit 41, while the tractor-trailer pulled over to the right shoulder on I-95. The tractor-trailer operator got out of the truck and ran up to the driver’s side of the car while it was stopped for the traffic light at the end of the ramp, according to police.

The tractor-trailer operator struck the driver of the car with an unknown object, causing a cut to his face. As the tractor-trailer operator tried to return to his truck, the driver got out of car and chased the tractor-trailer operator, and took out a 9mm semi-automatic pistol (for which he had a valid pistol permit) and fired several shots, striking the tractor-trailer operator several times, said police. The tractor-trailer driver returned to his truck, left the scene and continued driving I-95 northbound before coming to a stop in the area of exit 44 where he was located by Troopers.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incidentis asked to contact State Police Detective Allegro at 203-696-2565.
