NIANITIC–A third employee at the York Women’s Correctional Facility in Niantic has been arrested on charges that he sexually assaulted an inmate.

In February, Jeff Bromley, 47, of Niantic, turned himself in to State Police after learning a warrant was out for his arrest. He was charged with sexual assault in the second degree and was released on a $15,000 bond.

Then in April Matt Gilette, 43, of Groton, was arrested for sexual assault in the second degree. He too was released on a $15,000 bond.

On June 30, Kareem Dawson, 34, turned himself in after learning of a warrant out for his arrest. He was charged with sexual assault in the second degree. Bond was set at $25,000 and he is due in court on July 16.

According to an arrest warrant for Bromely, the arrests came after a 28-year-old inmate made sexual assault allegations against three correctional officers. The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit then conducted a three-month investigation, leading to the arrests.
