NEW HAVEN--It's the last of a dying breed in America, but also a first in Connecticut.

While membership Libraries were quite popular in the 19th century, they've become nearly obsolete since the introduction of public libraries. Now, there are less than 25 membership libraries left in the country, and The Institute Library in New Haven is one of the few.
