NEW YORK, New York – A 3,000 mile race across the country took place recently to raise money for America’s military veterans.

“Team Intrepid Fallen Heroes” biked from California to Maryland in six and a half days to raise money to build traumatic brain injury centers for veterans.

The team won the four-person, mixed gender division and team member Winston Fisher says they’re addressing a really big problem.

The race is considered to be among the world’s most respected and harshest endurance cycling events, and is nearly 50 percent longer than the Tour de France.

The race began on June 20 in Oceanside, California and concluded at City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland. Racers had 12 days to complete the race, and the clock didn’t stop –  even for sleeping. In the team divisions, at least one rider must be on the road at all times in order for the team to move forward.
