Stafford mom arrested for leaving child home alone with sex offender husband

STAFFORD–State Police have arrested a mother for leaving her husband, a convicted sex offender, home alone with her child.

Police say that in November 2014 Leigh Newton, 60, of Stafford, left her juvenile child alone with her husband, John Newton. John Newton is a convicted sex offender.

While alone, John Newton allegedly sexually assaulted the child, for which he was arrested for.

Leigh Newton was charged with risk of injury to a minor and was released on a $10,000 bond. She will appear in court on July 15.
