SOUTHINGTON — Graffiti and vandalism are popping up in a park in Southington.

Police are now requesting the public’s help in attempting to identify the person or people responsible for the vandalism at Recreation Park on Maxwell-Noble Drive.

Port-a-potties have been flipped, garbage cans dumped, and bleachers have been overturned, according to police. Areas of the park have been spray painted with graffiti and soccer nets have been cut. The vandalism has taken place during the late evening and early morning hours and police said it happened between June and July.

The Southington Police Department is currently conducting extensive directed patrols of Recreation Park and will be actively enforcing Town Ordinance Violations within the park.

Anyone found in the park after hours will be subjected to enforcement action. The town ordinance says the park is open 30 minutes after sunrise and closed 30 minutes after sunset. Anyone with any information about the vandalism should contact police.
