NEW LONDON — A former Navy seaman in Connecticut who was charged with inflicting life-threatening injuries on his infant son has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

The Day reports 25-year-old Jordan Rittenhouse, of Groton, was sentenced Thursday in New London Superior Court.

Rittenhouse pleaded guilty in May to two counts of risk of injury to a minor in exchange for a 20-year prison term suspended after eight years.

Authorities say he inflicted 29 bone fractures and multiple lacerations on the boy. Rittenhouse told police that he was under a lot of stress and had squeezed him multiple times.

Prosecutors say the child, who was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital, has made a full recovery.

Rittenhouse told the judge that what he did was inexcusable.
