WEST HAVEN -- The FBI and State Police announced Monday that four people were arrested and one person remains at large in connection with an explosion and homicide in Hamden on July 4.

Investigators say Christopher Miller is under arrest after he shot his roommate, Edward Brooks, in West Haven, then drove his body to Hamden and attempted to blow it up with explosives.

U.S. Attorney for Connecticut and police officials held a press conference Monday afternoon releasing new details about the incident.

Around 11 a.m. July 4, there was an explosion on Wintergreen Ave. in Hamden. When police arrived, they found an explosive device and a dead man wrapped in a plastic garbage bag and bound with rope, who had previously been shot multiple times, they said. The victim was Edward Brooks, 39, of West Haven.

Brooks lived at 59 Front Avenue, and several other people who lived at that address were arrested Monday.

Brooks' roommate, Christopher Miller, 40, faces 10 charges including murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of an explosive. Investigators say he has a criminal history, including past convictions. He is being held on $1 million bond.

Police are still searching for Maurice Wearing, 26, of 17 Kilborn Street in West Haven in connection with the murder, and asking for the public's assistance in locating him.

Three other Front Street residents were arrested on separate charges.

When police searched the victim's Front Street home, they found materials to make a pipe bomb, 16 grams of cocaine, and 10 grams of meth.

James Bryant, 64, faces charges including tampering with evidence.

Christopher Miller's girlfriend Natali Martinez-Sanchez, 29 , faces charges including tampering with evidence and conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

Miller's mother Deborah Miller, 59, was charged with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
