HARTFORD — Slot machine bets and revenue increased at Connecticut’s two tribal casinos in June, showing unusual strength in a long decline.
Foxwoods Resort Casino reported Wednesday that bets totaled $484.9 million, up 1.2 percent from June 2014. Mohegan Sun reported bets of $580.1 million, up slightly from $574.9 million in the same month last year.
Foxwoods, operated by the Mashantucket Pequots, reported revenue of $38.6 million in June, up from $37.7 million in June 2014.
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, which operates the Mohegan Sun casinos in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, reported slot revenue of $46.7 million, up slightly from $45.3 million in June 2014.
The positive numbers are bright spots in a long slide by the casinos struggling with intense competition in the Northeast and consumers reluctant to spend in a slowly improving economy.
