HARTFORD — A date has been set for the Connecticut General Assembly to respond to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s nine vetoes, but no decision has been made on whether to override any of them.
The so-called veto session is scheduled to be held on July 20.
The top two Democratic legislative leaders said Wednesday said they still need to speak with their rank-and-file members to gauge whether there’s support for overturning any of Malloy’s vetoes. If that happens, it would mark the first time in the governor’s tenure.
The state’s largest teachers union, the Connecticut Education Association, wants lawmakers to resurrect a bill that created standards for the next education commission. Some Democratic lawmakers also want to override Malloy’s veto of a bill doubling student membership on the UConn Board of Trustees.
