HARTFORD — This past weekend was especially violent in the capital city, after six people were shot– one fatally– in four separate shootings.

There was a shooting Saturday morning, Saturday night, Sunday morning, and Sunday night and at least one person was injured in each incident, police said.

Police said no arrests have been made in any of the four shootings and they have not said if any of the incidents are related.

First, Saturday morning, Jonathan Whaley, 34, was shot multiple times outside his home on Elliot Street, police said. Whaley died at the hospital, bringing Hartford’s 2015 homicide total to 18. Bruce Banks, 22, of Hartford was also hit, but is expected to be okay.

Then, Saturday night, Tequan Vail, 25, of Windsor was shot near 2006 Main Street, police said.

He is in stable condition.

Sunday morning around 2 a.m., two people were shot at a nightclub on Main Street. A suspect got into a fight with Jason Dakers, 33, at Vibz Nightclub. The suspect shot and critically injured Dakers. The suspect also accidentally shot 21-year-old Niyah Young, police also said. Both were hospitalized and are expected to be okay.

 

Sunday night, a 16-year-old boy was shot near the corner of Judson Street and Martin Street, police said. This is the second time he was shot– police said he was also hit by a bullet last year. The teen was arrested last week on a gun charge in a separate incident. Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley said he couldn’t sleep thinking about thing young man.

All this violence happened as mourners gathered to remember Hartford’s 17th homicide victim, Marcus McDade, 38, who was fatally wounded Wednesday.
