MILFORD - Ice cream on a hot day, the combination surely symbolizes summer. Yet one Connecticut mom is putting a unique and healthy spin on this iconic warm weather treat.
A new product was born when Susan Patrick, owner and ice cream maker at Walnut Beach Creamery in Milford, asked a chef, Biagio Barrone, for business-growing advice in 2010.
Next came a year in a "test kitchen", tinkering with ingredients.
Then, she and Barrone launched ISkream, an ice cream that features the ingredient Stevia, a natural sweetener, approved by the FDA. The tasty venture is growing.
