MIDDLETOWN - The Middletown father charged with murder in the death of his 7-month-old son Aaden Moreno appeared in court Tuesday. The case against Tony Moreno, 21, was continued to September 15.

Earlier this month Moreno was arraigned from his hospital bed.

On the night of Sunday, July 5 police say Moreno jumped off the Arrigoni Bridge in Middletown in an attempt to commit suicide. Right before he jumped, he tossed his son into the water, police said.

Moreno survived the fall but his son did not. Crews spent nearly two days looking for him. His body was discovered in East Haddam by a person riding a canoe.

The community of Middletown has spent the past couple of weeks remembering the little boy by holding vigils.

Following this sad story, documents provided some chilling details about the relationship between Moreno and the mother of his child, Adrianne Oyola.

Documents showed Moreno threatened to hurt Oyola and their son. We also learned that a judge denied a permanent restraining order she applied for days before Aaden's death.

Following this incident advocates from all sides of the spectrum have stood up to fight for change. Domestic violence advocates have called on authorities to take a closer look at family court cases.

Later this month Department of Transportation officials will meet and discuss possibly making renovations to the Arrigoni Bridge in order to prevent another suicide attempt.
