Farmington police confirm man’s body found in Farmington River

FARMINGTON - Farmington Police confirm they found the body of a man from Connecticut in his early 20s in the Farmington River.

The Farmington Fire Department began searching the Farmington River near Tunxis Mead Park in Farmington around 5 p.m.  Wednesday afternoon after reports of a party seen going underwater.

The man's body was found around 8:30 p.m. He was swimming with a group of friends when he went under, according to police.

There were multiple boats in the water engaged in the search, including the state police dive team. K-9s were used, as well.

The medical examiner was on scene to continue the investigation.
