NEW HAVEN — Attorneys for a Connecticut woman charged with killing her two children by poisoning them with antihistamines say they are considering an insanity defense.

Thirty-six-year-old LeRoya Moore appeared Monday in New Haven Superior Court. Public defender Scott Jones said the defense is waiting to receive documents including police reports before deciding on a strategy.

Moore is detained on $2 million bail on murder and other charges in the deaths of 7-year-old Daaron Moore and 6-year-old Aleisha Moore. Their bodies were found in their home June 2. Authorities ruled they died of an antihistamine overdose.

Police say Moore wrote a note saying the children were meant to die that day and she was sending them to heaven. They say Moore was found at the home with injuries consistent with a suicide attempt.
